Pay by weight exemption

Household bag waste collection is only available in exceptional circumstances as set out in the criteria from the Department of Environment. You must be approved by Galway County Council for a wheelie bin exemption. 

One or more of the following must be relevant to the property seeking the exemption

• No space within the property boundary to store bins
• Physical features (steps)
• Road too narrow for a RCV to access (excluding 100m from route)
• Where bags are currently provided and not feasible to provide bins
• Other (further detail must be provided)

Proof of address must also be attached to all applications.
