Flagship Projects

The Creative Communities Engagement Officer will occasionally fund large-scale projects directly. These tend to come from established groups with a strong proven track record and a commitment to community engagement

This year the selected group is Sparkcatchers! in Tuam and their project, Middle of Somewhere which seeks to help young people in lesser served areas to engage with the arts and social activism.

Sparkcatchers! Jojo & Midie will deliver ‘Middle of Somewhere!’ a weekly teenage socially engaged youth voice arts project over a six- week period in 3 rural communities in County Galway.

Sparkcatchers! will explore how teenagers can use shared space in rural communities to connect, create, communicate and celebrate through a series of Arts workshops. We will facilitate 6 weekly sessions offering participants the time and space to hang out, exchange stories, have music ‘jams’, and have fun.

These workshops will be open to all, inclusive and appropriate and capacity at sessions will be no more than 12 in line with Sparkcatchers! Child Protection Policy.

The project will culminate in a celebration of their creations in their chosen medium(s) to be determined by the participants but inspired by the workshops and previously delivered projects by Sparkcatchers! Details coming soon!
