Apply for a Residents parking permit

Pay and Display parking is currently in operation in the towns of Tuam, Clifden, Loughrea, Gort, Athenry and Ballinasloe. In order to facilitate residents of these towns, two residents parking permits can be issued per household, to residents of dwellings who are vehicle owners and whose normal place of residence is situated in a Street to which the Parking Places Bye-laws apply.

Terms and Conditions

  • Permits are issued to vehicle owners whose normal place of residence is on a street covered by the Bye-laws (defined as residing there for more than 183 days per year).
  • Residents with dedicated parking areas are not eligible.
  • A copy of the current insurance certificate (in the applicant’s name and address) must be submitted.
  • A maximum of two permits may be issued per household.
  • The vehicle must be a private car, station wagon, or passenger vehicle (max 7 passengers, excluding driver) taxed under the ‘Private’ class.
  • Permits are valid for one year from the date of issue.
  • The fee is €10.00.
  • The permit must be clearly displayed inside the vehicle.
  • If the resident moves or changes vehicle, the permit becomes invalid and must be returned. A new application is required.
