The deployment of a high-quality digital infrastructure underpins almost all sectors of a modern and innovative economy, while also ensuring that citizens and business can reap the benefits of the internet of things (IoT), machine-to-machine technologies, cloud computing and big data.
Broadband Connection Points (BCPs) are a key part of Ireland’s “Our Rural Future” strategy and are aimed at improving digital connectivity in rural areas. There are 21 BCPs in county Galway including 4 of the islands. BCPs play a significant role in promoting social inclusion by ensuring that rural communities have the same access to digital services as urban areas.
Helping people in Galway gain digital skills can improve lives, boost services, and grow the economy. It keeps people connected and ensures everyone benefits from the digital world.
