In order to perform our legal and administrative duties for Motor Tax on behalf of the Department of Transport, Galway County Council requires some personal information from clients.
In compliance with the law, the following agencies may obtain your personal data:
- An Garda Síochána
- State agencies involved in criminal or civil investigations
- Solicitors acting in legal matters, including traffic accident investigations
- Local authorities, for purposes such as criminal or civil investigations and enforcement of fines (e.g. littering)
The supply of data to other third parties is covered by Regulations and any requests for information must be made under and in accordance with the following Regulations:
- Requests to licensing authorities for vehicle data may be made under S.I. No.277/1994 - Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations.
