The aim of Galway Sports Partnership is to increase participation in physical activity among specific target groups across the county.
Main Functions of Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs)

- Compile a sports directory and database
- Identify needs and resources to support local planning
- Education
- Provide quality education and training opportunities at local level
- Offer training courses targeting volunteers
- Facilitate access to sport-specific courses through National Governing Bodies (NGBs)

- Develop a strategic plan for local sport
- Appoint a professional administrator
- Secure related support services
- Select and adapt participation programmes to suit local needs
- Increase the impact of national programmes delivered locally
- Market and promote sport across the county
