Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws

Galway County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act 2004, as amended and in the interest of public safety hereby gives notice of its intention to make Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws in respect of certain roads within the administrative area of the County of Galway.

Speed limits

Speed limits in Ireland are shown in km/h on road signs with a white background and red border, and they vary by road type.
Speed limits are expressed in km/hr through distinctive road signs throughout the country. These signs are found on every motorway and on major roads and minor roads throughout County Galway and consist of a circular sign with a white background and a red border. The speed limit is shown in the centre of the sign in black numerals (i.e. 30, 40, 60, etc.).

Starter Homes (Formally Affordable Housing)

Under the Starter Home Purchase Scheme (formally Affordable Housing Purchase Scheme), Galway County Council will assist eligible members of the public to purchase new homes at a reduced price, retaining an equity share in the property, for buyers who are seeking to purchase a newly built home but whose combined mortgage and deposit will not cover the market price of the newly built property.
