Galway County Council’s Local Authority Integration Team (LAIT) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Refugee Week Grant. This fund offers grants of up to €1,000 to support community groups and organisations across the county to host events or activities during Refugee Week, taking place from 15-21 June 2026. The grant aims to encourage locally‑led initiatives that bring people together, foster connection, and reflect the spirit of this year’s national theme, “Courage.”
Groups wishing to run an activity or event are invited to submit a proposal at https://galwaycoco.submit.com/ before the deadline of Tuesday, 30 April 2026. For queries or assistance, groups can contact refugeeweek@galwaycoco.ie.
Galway County Council encourages community organisations, clubs, and volunteer groups to apply and to share this opportunity through their networks.
Refugee Week celebrates everyday acts of courage, both the courage shown by people seeking safety and the courage shown by communities who welcome them. Simple actions such as inviting someone to join a local activity, sharing food, offering support, or building new friendships help strengthen community bonds and create a more inclusive and welcoming Galway for everyone.
