The Galway County Dementia Café Initiative offers seven free monthly cafés across the county, creating welcoming spaces where people living with dementia, carers, families and friends can connect, share experiences and enjoy meaningful activities together.
From live music and arts and crafts to light exercise, gardening, memories and wellbeing supports, each café offers opportunities for friendship, creativity and community engagement.
As dementia affects more individuals and families across County Galway, these cafés play an important role in fostering inclusive, supportive communities where everyone is welcome.

The initiative was recently recognised through shortlisting in the National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards 2026 and the Chambers Ireland Local Government Awards 2026.
