Schools Library Services

Galway Public Libraries are committed to supporting literacy and learning in schools and early education settings across the county. We offer a range of services to help teachers and students access quality reading materials and library experiences.

Our dedicated Schools Library Van visits national schools across County Galway twice a year. Each visit gives students and teachers the opportunity to:

  • Exchange classroom book collections
  • Discover new and exciting titles
  • Encourage a love of reading in a fun and engaging way

Class Sets

Teachers of 1st to 6th class can borrow class novel sets for shared reading. Our collection includes both classic and contemporary fiction to inspire young readers.

  • Loan period: 4 months
  • Easy collection and return at your local library branch

🏫 School & Early Learning Centre Visits to the Library

Bringing your class to the local library is a great way to spark interest in books and reading.

  • Teachers can register for a special library card allowing them to borrow up to 40 books for 6 months
  • Children can also use their own library cards to borrow books during the visit
