Housing adaptation grant for disabled people
Who it's for:
People with a physical, sensory, or intellectual disability who need major changes to their home.
What it covers:
Big adaptations like:
- Converting bedrooms into accessible bathrooms
- Building downstairs accessible bathrooms or toilets
- Stair lifts or through-floor lifts
- Fixed track hoists (not maintenance or training)
- Extensions (e.g. for a bedroom or bathroom)
- Adaptations to facilitate wheelchair use
Occupational therapist (OT) assessment:
An OT Report is required if you are applying for major works like stair lifts, hoists, extensions, or changing how a room is used. Up to €300 will be reimbursed for private OT report.
How much you can get:
Up to €40,000, depending on your household income and the works needed.
