Greener Festivals & Events

Steps you can take to reduce the environmental impact of your festival or event

Event Organisers:

  • Plan: Consider the environment during the planning phase. Use sustainable practices and materials.
  • Waste Management: Provide clearly marked bins for recycling and composting. Encourage attendees to dispose of waste properly.
  • Energy Efficiency: Use energy-efficient lighting and equipment. Consider renewable energy sources.
  • Local Sourcing: Support local businesses by sourcing food, beverages, and other supplies locally.
  • Transportation: Promote carpooling, public transportation, or biking to the event.

Attendees:

  • No Littering: Always take your waste home or use the bins provided by the event organiser.
  • Avoid Single-Use Items: Bring reusable items (water bottles, utensils, etc.) to reduce waste.
  • Buy Local: Support local vendors and artisans at the event.
  • Energy Awareness: Be mindful of energy usage (turn off lights, electronics, etc.).
  • Refillable Water Bottles: Carry a refillable water bottle to reduce plastic waste.
  • Water Conservation: Use water wisely and avoid unnecessary waste.
  • Eco-Friendly Transportation: Carpool or use public transport to reach the event.

Remember, small actions can collectively make a big difference.
