Galway County Council is progressing the Battle of Aughrim Interpretative Centre Development Project to strengthen and enhance one of Ireland's most significant historic visitor attractions.
The project will support the future development of the Battle of Aughrim Interpretative Centre through the preparation of a feasibility study, concept design and interpretation plan. The initiative will examine opportunities to modernise the visitor experience, improve interpretation and storytelling, and maximise the tourism potential of the centre and its contribution to the wider Ballinasloe and East Galway region.
The Battle of Aughrim Interpretative Centre commemorates the Battle of Aughrim of 1691, one of the most significant events in Irish history, and plays an important role in preserving and presenting the heritage of the area for residents and visitors alike.
