Filming Permit Requirements

The following guidelines must be followed when seeking permission to film in County Galway:

Initial Contact

Contact the Customer Services Department at Galway County Council by email at customerservices@galwaycoco.ie or by phone at 091 509225.
Provide as much detail as possible about the shoot, including:

• Proposed date(s)
• Location(s)
• Nature of the filming

Insurance Requirements

You must provide public liability insurance with a limit of indemnity of at least €6.5 million.
The policy must include a specific indemnity to Galway County Council.

Review and Approval

• Once your request is received, it will be forwarded to the relevant Municipal District for comment and recommendation.
• If approved, and subject to correct insurance documentation, formal approval will be issued.
• An administration fee of €65 per location must be paid.

Traffic Management

If filming will cause obstruction to traffic, you must contact the local Gardaí in advance.
