Galway County Council has signed contracts to introduce Ireland’s first modern mobile library vehicles based on bus infrastructure, delivering two new state-of-the-art units. The investment will expand and modernise the Mobile Library Service, providing enhanced resources, technology, and community access to towns, schools, and rural areas across the county.

Galway County Council hosted Minister Dara Calleary on 14 May 2026 for a visit to community and rural development projects across Connemara. The visit included the opening of Forum Connemara’s new offices and refurbished Clifden Arts Festival facility, a new community car park at Ionad Pobail an Mháma, and upgraded amenities at Leenane Community Park. The projects, supported by various government schemes, highlight ongoing investment in community infrastructure, outdoor recreation, and sustainable rural development.
