Community Involvement Scheme
The County Council reserves a proportion of its road grant allocation for projects attracting community involvement in improvement and maintenance works on suitable local roads. Contributions may be financial or may represent "contributions in kind" which would involve work/materials supplied by the applicant. The works to be contributed by local residents may include:
- piped drainage under gateways and as required for road drainage
- provision of stoned areas in the vicinity of gateways and between the gateway and the metalled road surface
- setting back walls and fences in order to ease bends and improve sight distance.
Applications for this scheme are invited in September of each year and a works programme is drawn up according to the relative priority of the applications received
