Annual Conference 2008 - May 7th & 8th 2008

Venue: Ardilaun Hotel, Taylor’s Hill, Galway

The CFOA Conference 2008, Ireland’s leading Fire Conference and Fire Technology Exhibition is being held in Galway. The theme of the conference is.

"Climate Change - Challenges for the Fire and Emergency Services”

The conference will be focusing this year on the challenges faced by fire and rescue services in dealing with the consequences of climate change. Climate change and global warning are now accepted as inevitable outcomes of human endeavor. The conference will attempt to address the issues and challenges that arise and how such challenges impacts on how fire and emergency services in Ireland , UK and Europe deal with these new phenomena.

The Ardilaun Hotel, 4**** a family run hotel situated in five acres of landscaped grounds with excellent conference and spa facilities will host the 2008 CFOA. The hotel is a ten minute drive from the city centre and five minutes from the Promenade in Salthill.

Prestigious experts and speakers on the topics below, will attend from the Emergency services sector and the fire technology /industry sector in UK, Europe and Ireland to address and give the delegates the benefit of their experience and knowledge in 2008 . Mr. John Gormley T.D. , Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government will attend the conference.

The conference will be opened by Tony Killeen T.D., Minister for state at the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government

Our keynote speaker is Frank McDonald from the Irish Times, who will set the scene on the climate change agenda

The Chief Fire Officers Association CFOA Annual Conference and Fire industry/technology exhibition is one of the most prestigious conferences in Ireland and is a major showcase for the fire and emergency services sector in Ireland. It is an ideal opportunity for the representatives from the manufacturing and trade sector involved in supplying emergency products to the private and public sector to meet , network with and exchange information with representatives and colleagues from the fire and rescue and community fire safety organizations in a convivial and workmanlike environment

The theme of the 2008 Conference reflects further challenges to the Fire And
Emergency services in performing their functions either from an operational or fire
protection perspective

Our Conference will commence will the traditional golf outing which will take place in Bearna Golf Club, ten minutes drive from the Conference Hotel overlooking Galway Bay on Tuesday 6th MAY . Wednesday 7th will see the official opening of the conference followed by the technology exhibition and lectures. The conference will close with the Gala Dinner on Thursday evening 8th May.
