Our Aim...
To provide a formal structure through which community and voluntary groups will have a voice in decision making processes at local and national level.
To ensure the effective achievement of this aim we support…
- A structured approach to community development.
- The provision of local area fora through which participating groups share information, learning and experience.
- The encouragement of maximum participation from the community and voluntary sector.
- The formulation of general policies in relation to issues affecting the community and voluntary sector countywide.
- The provision of timely information to community groups re grants etc.
- The facilitation of community and voluntary groups through local community offices.
- The promotion of public awareness of the activities of the Galway County Community and Voluntary Forum.
- The evaluation of the work of the Galway County Community and Voluntary Forum on a regular basis.
HOW IS THE GALWAY COUNTY COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTARY FORUM ORGANISED?
Galway county is divided into six designated areas, each known as a Local Area Forum, each of which elects three nominees to a central committee of the GCCVF known as the County Executive. The three nominees are elected from the registered groups in their area. The GCCVF will have community offices to facilitate local community and voluntary groups.
