The objective of the Arts Grants Scheme is to assist any events or activities which would, in the opinion of Galway County Council, stimulate public interest in the arts, promote the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts, or assist in improving the standards of the arts in County Galway. TYRONE GUTHRIE AWARD
This is a special bursary award for two artists, selected by open competition, to spend two weeks in residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Annaghmakerrig, the artists’ workplace in County Monaghan. Each bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if necessary. This Award is open to all art forms. CONTEMPORARY FILM GRANT
Galway County Council invites submissions for its Contemporary Film Grant, which is open to all filmmakers in Galway County. The aim of this grant is to give filmmakers in the county the opportunity to make creative and contemporary film. Bursary for Dingle Writing Courses
Bursary to attend Dingle Writing Courses 2009
Galway County Council is offering a bursary to attend a Dingle Writing Course.
The value of the bursary covers the full cost of a weekend course which includes tuition, accommodation and all meals. The purpose of this bursary is to give the chance to devote time to their writing with the help and guidance of a top published author and to assist in their professional development.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a bursary you must be currently resident in Galway County.
To Apply:

Starting to Write- Moya Cannon 9th -11th October
Poetry- Leontia Flynn- 16th -18th October
the course will benefit your writing.

1. INDIVIDUAL ARTIST BURSARIES 2009
Applications are invited by the Arts Office for the 2009 Artist Bursary Awards. This fund provides funding to individual artists. Galway County Council will offer bursaries in respect of the professional development of individual artists practicing in any of the artistic disciplines (Film, Literature, Music, Visual Arts etc). Funding will be allocated towards:
- Further educational or training opportunities
- Development of new work (recording, exhibitions, publication, residency etc).
