The Galway County Arts Awards
The County Arts Awards are the only Arts Awards run by a Local Authority in the Country, they are very unique to Galway. The Awards celebrate the contribution made by members of the public to the Arts.
Each year there is one award given to the group or individual who in the estimation of the adjudication panel have contributed most to the arts; there is one award for each of the electoral divisions. Connemara, Oranmore, Tuam, Loughrea and Ballinasloe. In addition there is one overall award for the most outstanding overall achievement in the arts, the Supreme Award. The actual awards are specially commissioned John Behan Sculptures of the Galway Hooker.
