Social Inclusion Week 2010
The 17th – 22nd October has been designated Social Inclusion Week as part of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion. The Social Inclusion Unit in Galway County Council is coordinating a number of events and a full programme of events is available for download.

N17 N18 Gort Tuam PPP scheme - important Press announcement
Minister for Transport Mr Noel Dempsey T.D. today announced that the preferred tender has been selected for the M17/M18 Gort to Tuam PPP Motorway. The National Roads Authority has confirmed that the BAM Balfour Beatty Consortium is the preferred bidder and they are expected to finalise project acceptance in the coming weeks with construction to commence early in the new year. It is expected that work will begin early 2011 and be completed by the end of 2014.
Review of the CLAREGALWAY and KINVARA Local Area Plans 2005-2011 and the preparation new local area plans
Notice is hereby given that Galway County Council pursuant to Sections 18, 19, and 20 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended , Article 14 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004, Article 6 of the EU Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) and the EU Flood Directive 2007/60/EC, is intending to review the Claregalway Local Area Plan 2005-2011 and the Kinvara Local Area Plan 2005-2011 and to prepare new local area plans for Claregalway and Kinvara together with Strategic Environment Assessment & Appropriate Assessment Screenings/ Full Strategic Environment Assessment & Appropriate Assessment if required.
